Hallway Space Transformed

We were recently commissioned to design and make several items of bespoke fitted furniture for an apartment in N4 London. The owners had moved in and there were several areas that needed resolving to create attractive functional storage and maximise the available space. The photos show the last piece of joinery that we created and again there are 'before and after' photos. In addition to creating this hallway cupboard we had previously made a built-in hallway storage unit with flap doors and solid oak display shelving, custom made wine racks, floating solid oak shelves for alcoves in the living room and also in the hallway, a very large floating solid oak kitchen shelf as well as fitting a folding TV bracket into a recess and making a custom kitchen breadboard to compliment the rest of the solid oak furniture. For the final piece of joinery our client wanted a way of neatly storing their folding Brompton Bike, hanging up coats and a way of storing many shoes. They also wanted it to have a minimalist aesthetic and blend in with the rest of the products we hand designed and made for them. The first photo shows 'before' and then the rest are of the joinery we created. The pull out shoe storage is on the left (the movable partition is to allow varying size shoes to be stored more effectively). The Brompton bike fits into the lower right space with a black clothes rail above for coats. The oak shelf above helps to visually tie the products together and creates a large high storage area. There is also an access flap inserted into the back panel behind the shoe shelves for access to a fuse. Doors are bi-fold style with a central rebated finger pull handle.
