Carpenter and Carpenter recently designed, built and installed a bookcase for me. It is made of solid laminated tulipwood, with overall dimensions 204cm (high) by 202cm (wide). It was designed carefully to fit a particular space, with shelving spaced at the foot to accommodate oversize books, and with adjustable shelving above. After the initial consultation detailed drawings were supplied, and I was able to approve them with no changes. The bookcase was partly assembled offsite, then brought over and installed with care. Adjustable feet enable it to sit correctly despite my sloping floor. I can wholeheartedly recommend Carpenter and Carpenter for their excellent workmanship, design skills, speed and reliability.

Andrew and his team have completed 5 projects; 3 freestanding items of furniture (a bedside unit, a set of wall shelves and a bifold futon base) which built on sketches given, an understair door which needed to match existing colour and design of other visible Victorian pine doors and the fifth involved interpreting a concept for a room (a 3 sided library with inbuilt media).In all five projects, Andrew's design expertise was crucial to each projects success- his advice and suggestions of material, finish, style features and proportion meant that each piece fulfilled both aesthetic and functional criteria. Attention to detail on inputs such as optimising heat efficiency through silver lining the radiator part of the library bookcases and finessing designs down the millimetre to ensure the bifold futon frame fitted exactly under a window sill and within a narrow space whilst maximising mattress dimensions was exactly why I wanted to find someone who could not only make but could also design.
